Singapore entry for Australians: SG Arrival Card and transit
Singapore’s SG Arrival Card is a free arrival declaration, not a visa. Submit it within the official three-day window, including arrival day, unless an exception applies. Check the visit permission actually issued by ICA.

Treat the arrival declaration and entry permission separately
Read ICA’s entry guidance for passport validity, visa requirements and the arrival-card exceptions. Use the official SGAC service or MyICA app. Paying an agent to complete a free declaration does not create a different immigration permission.
Check the Visit Pass after entry
Use ICA’s record of the visit and its expiry date, not a general estimate from a travel website. A visa’s validity period is different from a Visit Pass. Keep the record accessible and resolve any mismatch with the authority while you still have time to act.
Work out whether a connection crosses the border
- Ask the airline whether baggage is checked through and whether the onward boarding pass is available airside.
- Check whether a terminal change or separate ticket requires immigration.
- If entering Singapore during a connection, repeat the ordinary entry and arrival-declaration checks.
- Keep enough time for the whole process rather than comparing flight arrival and departure times alone.
If the visit must change
Use ICA’s extension guidance before permission expires. Do not treat a short trip to Malaysia as a guaranteed new allowance. For work or study, use the appropriate pass process rather than relying on visitor entry. Keep each request tied to the actual activity and dates.
Use calendar days for the arrival-card window
ICA’s three-day window includes arrival day. For an illustrative Sunday arrival, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are the three calendar days involved; do not translate that wording into a universal promise of exactly 72 hours. Use the official service and check the arrival date shown on the confirmation. An onward delay that changes the arrival day can require another check.

Save the first accommodation or meeting point, onward itinerary and visit record independently of the phone’s data connection. An eligible airport transit and a short city stop are different plans even when both appear as a few hours between flights. Make the document decision before buying the transfer or non-refundable accommodation.
