No display ads
We do not run Google AdSense or any programmatic display network.
Editorial independence
No sponsor influences visa rulings, guide rankings or coverage.
Clearly labelled
Every affiliate link is tagged "Ad · affiliate" and uses rel="sponsored".
How VoyagerCheck is funded
VoyagerCheck is a free, independent Australian travel publication. Running the site costs money (hosting, the visa-data API, the visa-checker infrastructure, Josh's time). We cover those costs through two revenue streams — and only two:
- Affiliate partnerships with a small, hand-picked set of travel brands we would genuinely recommend to a friend.
- Direct-sold sponsorships — sponsored articles, guide-specific partner blocks, and (soon) newsletter placements sold via our Advertise page.
We do not run Google AdSense, we do not run programmatic display ads of any kind, we do not sell visa applications, and we are not paid by any government or embassy.
Affiliate links — how they work
Some links on VoyagerCheck are affiliate links. If you click one and end up buying something, we receive a small commission from the merchant — at no extra cost to you. The price you pay is identical to going direct.
Every affiliate link on the site:
- Uses the HTML attribute
rel="sponsored nofollow noopener"— attributes used to identify sponsored links and reduce referral and opener risks. - Is either wrapped in a visible "Ad · affiliate" card or, for prose links, is called out in the surrounding sentence.
- Identifies a commercial relationship. A referral does not establish independent testing or suitability for a particular traveller.
Our current affiliate partners
The active affiliate relationships listed in the site registry. Inactive placeholder programmes are not presented as current partners.
Direct-sold sponsorships
Brands can pay us directly for editorial placement (sponsored articles), guide-specific partner blocks, or footer partner logos. All rates and formats are listed publicly on our Advertise page.
When a piece of content is directly sponsored, it will:
- Carry a visible "Sponsored" label at the top of the article.
- Name the sponsoring brand and link to a disclosure explaining the arrangement.
- Still be written to our normal editorial standard — if we can't honestly stand behind it, we decline the brief.
Editorial firewall
We take editorial independence seriously because the whole point of VoyagerCheck is to help readers understand travel information and its limitations. To keep that trust:
- Visa information is never influenced by sponsors. Entry requirements, stay durations, official application URLs, warnings and scam call-outs should identify their sources; checker results is separate and may be cached.
- We don't sell rankings. A commercial relationship should not be presented as an independent product test or as evidence for a visa decision.
- We won't publish anything we wouldn't stand behind. If we can't honestly recommend a sponsor's product, we return the money.
- All paid links are disclosed and nofollow. No hidden native, no dofollow "link building" deals.
Questions or feedback
If something on the site looks like undisclosed advertising, or a recommendation seems off, please let us know via our Contact page — include the affected page and a supporting source so we can assess and correct the issue.
