Frequently asked questions
How to use the site and understand the limits of travel information. Updated 25 October 2026.
How does the visa checker work?
It requests visa information using the Travel Buddy service via RapidAPI and may return a cached response. Coverage varies by passport and destination. A result is a planning aid, not an immigration decision or a guarantee of airline acceptance.
Is the checker free?
The public checker does not require a payment or account. Official visa applications and commercial services have separate charges and conditions.
What if the guide and checker disagree?
Check the destination’s current official immigration or embassy guidance and the operating airline. Report the discrepancy through our contact form. Neither a cached result nor an article update date establishes that a rule is still current.
Does visa-free mean there is nothing to do?
No. Visa exemption, travel authorisation, arrival declarations, passport requirements and admission conditions are separate questions. Check the requirements for your actual passport, purpose and route.
Do I always need six months left on my passport?
No universal rule applies. Check the destination and transit requirements, including the date from which validity is measured, passport condition and blank pages. Follow the current official wording rather than applying a general formula.
Does the transit-country option determine my airport transit eligibility?
No. It shows ordinary destination-entry data for the selected transit country. It does not check the specific airport, terminal, airline, baggage transfer, separate ticket or airside transit conditions. Confirm the actual connection with official authorities and the operating airline.
Does a short exit reset my permitted stay?
Do not assume it does. Permissions may use rolling or cumulative limits, and a new admission is a separate decision. Use the applicable official rules or extension process for the actual itinerary.
Can I work or study on visitor permission?
The answer depends on the specific permission and activity. Describe the actual work or study to the responsible authority before choosing a category. A holiday booking or possession of a laptop does not decide the issue.
Do children and dual nationals need separate checks?
Yes. Check each person’s travel passport, nationality, age and circumstances. Requirements can differ for children, guardianship arrangements and a country’s own citizens. Do not apply another traveller’s exemption automatically.
Can I rely on the prices or processing times in an older article?
Use current official fee and processing guidance. A typical timeframe is not a guarantee, and paying a service provider does not establish approval. Check the effective date and the exact application category.
Are personal traveller stories verified?
First-person reporting needs identifiable provenance, permission and appropriate attribution. Unsupported named accounts have been withdrawn during the content review. Practical examples should be labelled and should not be presented as actual trips or receipts.
How is the site funded?
Some links are disclosed affiliate referrals, including ET2Sim links. A qualifying purchase may earn a commission. Referral click counts are not sales figures, and a commission does not establish that a product fits a particular itinerary.
What link analytics do you collect?
With analytics consent, the site records public source and destination paths, time, category and a random event identifier. Link query strings and fragments are excluded. This feature respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. See the privacy policy for the separate operational visa-search records.
How do I report an error?
Use the contact page and identify the URL, the disputed statement and a relevant official source. Do not include sensitive passport or medical information in a general enquiry.
