Egypt visa for Australians: e-Visa and itinerary checks
Egypt’s official e-Visa FAQ lists eligible tourist applications at US$30 for single entry or US$65 for multiple entry. Check the selected product, passport eligibility and current conditions before paying.
Travelling on a different passport? Entry rules change with nationality. The worked examples below use an Australian passport, but our free visa checker shows provider data where available — confirm your own requirements with the destination’s official authority before booking.
Review scope: 25 October 2026
The official e-Visa FAQ was checked for Australian eligibility, current US$30/US$65 tourism fees, passport validity and the required printout.

The official e-Visa FAQ now lists US$30 for single-entry tourism and US$65 for multiple-entry tourism. The previous US$25/US$60 figures have been removed.

The old article wrongly grouped Hurghada with Sinai-only entry and supplied unverified payment, queue and conversion assurances. Those claims have been removed.
Use the government process
The official portal asks applicants to create an account, apply, pay and await the decision, then download and print the approved e-Visa. It instructs applicants to create the application at least seven days before departure. That is a preparation instruction, not a guarantee of approval within seven days.
Match the permission to every part of the itinerary
A resort stay, a Cairo visit, a Nile cruise and a separate exit and re-entry can create different document questions. Do not assume a geographically restricted permission covers the whole country. Write down the actual route and ask Egyptian authorities if the permitted scope is unclear.
- Check the passport and names against the application before submission.
- Compare approved dates and entry count with flights and tours.
- Carry the printed approval as instructed by the official portal.
- Keep the official support route and application reference accessible offline.
If the trip changes
An extra night, a new flight or an added destination within Egypt may affect the permission needed. Check before paying for the change. An old travel article cannot guarantee an on-arrival conversion, payment method or admission decision.
Plan safety and health separately
Read the current official advisory for the exact regions you plan to visit and discuss health questions with a clinician. A successful visa application is not evidence that an excursion is safe or covered by insurance. Avoid carrying a fixed advisory level copied from an old article into a new booking decision.
Single or multiple entry: put the exits on the calendar
| Illustrative itinerary | Question to resolve |
|---|---|
| Cairo and a domestic Nile itinerary | One country visit, with the appropriate tourist permission |
| Egypt, then another country, then Egypt again | Whether the second arrival needs another permission or a suitable multiple-entry product |
| A geographically restricted resort permission | Whether the whole planned route is covered; do not assume Cairo is included |
| Changed entry date after approval | Whether the issued dates still cover travel and what correction process applies |
Compare the same itinerary against each product before paying. The difference between a visa’s validity window, the number of permitted entries and the length of a visit matters more than selecting the lowest fee. Keep the issued document and the calendar together so an extra side trip does not quietly use a permission twice.
The official FAQ requires an e-Visa printout, a passport valid for at least six months from arrival and the relevant itinerary and supporting information. Keep a paper copy accessible at check-in and arrival rather than assuming an email payment receipt will serve the same purpose.
